Safety First: A Guide for Foreign Workers in Korea

1. Why is Safety So Important?

If you’re working in a factory or construction site, safety is not an option — it’s a must! Wearing protective gear and knowing emergency exits can save lives, including yours and your coworkers.

2. Wear Protective Gear

Protective equipment like helmets, gloves, safety shoes, and goggles keep you safe from injuries. Even if uncomfortable, always wear them. Make it a habit to inspect them before use.

3. How to Handle Hazardous Materials Safely

Store chemicals properly, wear protective gloves and masks, and always ventilate your space. Wash hands before meals and seek medical help if you come into contact with harmful substances.

4. Understand Safety Signs

Type Color/Shape Meaning Example
Prohibition Red Circle Do Not Do No Fire, No Entry
Warning Yellow Triangle Be Careful Electricity, Explosives
Instruction Blue Circle Do This Wear Helmet, Goggles
Information Green Square Location Guide Emergency Exit, First Aid

5. What To Do In Case of an Accident

Call 119 and report clearly. In case of electric shock, turn off the power and use non-conductive items to move the person. For burns, rinse with water. If a bone is broken, do not move them and wait for help.

Stay alert, wear gear, and respect safety signs — your life matters!
